RESIDENCIES / WORKSHOPS

NATIONAL :-

a) In February 2002, a residency on Kalaripayattu was conducted by Ranjan Mullarat from Bangalore.

b) Manipuri dancer, Ranjit Singh undertook a residency program on Thangta in February 2003.

c) Troupe members Mitali Sinha, Paromita Chakraborty and Varshaa Bardhan organised a workshop on lmpressions of Westem Dance Techniques in May 2003.

d) The dancers of the Centre thoroughly enjoyed a residency on Bharatnatyam under Navtej Singh during a residency in April 2004.

e) After attending a summer intensive course at the Place Theatre in London, on Afro – Contemporary, Graham and Limon Techniques students of ASCPA, Tirtha Pratim Ghosh, Kasturi Sinha Roy, Allen Perris and Alakta Chatterjee, organised a workshop in May 2004 to train others.


 
 
   

INTERNATIONAL :-

a) Jacqulyn Buglisi, senior faculty member of the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, New York conducted a residency in Dec 1996.

b) Andre Tyson of Alvin Ailey American Dance Centre, New York trained artistes on Lester Horton Technique during his residency in September 1998.

c) In August 1999, artistic director Jaan R Freeman of the Freeman Repertory Dance Company undertook a residency programme on the Horton Technique.

d) Janet Kaylo of the Laban Centre, London, conducted a residency on the Bartinieff Technique in September 2000.

e) A commissioned choreography was done by Margaret Jenkins assisted by Mary Carbonara during her residency of two weeks at ASCPA in November 2003 sponsored by the Government of USA.
